50th Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass

April 29th, 2012 @ 2:00 pm
Cathedral of St. Patrick
5th Ave, between 50th and 51st Sts.
New York, NY 10022

This program is designed to affirm the sacredness and indissolubility of the Sacrament of Marriage by providing:

A special Mass for couples residing in the Archdiocese of New York who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2012* is held to publicly recognize their powerful witness to the importance and permanence of marriage.  The married couples have the opportunity as a group to renew their wedding vows and receive a blessing from Cardinal Egan at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick.  (Unfortunately due to a scheduling conflict, Cardinal Dolan will be unable to attend.) This Mass is always a regular Sunday Mass which fulfills your Sunday obligation and follows the normal Sunday mass readings.

*If you do not live within the Archdiocese of New York, (i.e. if you live in Brooklyn, Queens, or other states) please check with your local parish or diocese to join in their 50th wedding anniversary celebrations.

This program provides a meaningful spiritual experience for the jubilarians and their families. *Registration for the event at the Cathedral of St. Patrick is handled through your New York Archdiocesan parish, not St. Patrick's office. The deadline to register for the 2012 Mass is April 13, 2012.  Please contact your parish; Your parish will fill out a registration form including your names, email (if available) and mailing address. About one month after the Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass, a 50th Wedding Anniversary certificate will be sent to the  mailing address that you supplied.

The couples celebrating their 50th wedding anniversaries are seated in the two center isles.  They may bring as many family and friends as they would like.  Family and friends are seated in the adjoining isles - they are NOT seated with the 50th wedding anniversary couples.

Congratulations on this beautiful testament to lifelong love and fidelity, we look forward to sharing this special Mass with you!

In addition to this celebration, many people desire a Papal blessing (a blessing from the Pope) to commemorate this special anniversary.  This usually takes weeks or months to obtain so it is best to start the process well in advance. To learn how to obtain a blessing from the Pope, please download these instructions: in a word document   or in a .pdf form
